How Deliquescent Air Dryers Function

Pioneer Air’s deliquescent air dryers remove harmful water vapors from air compressor lines, playing an essential role in protecting against line freeze-ups, corrosion, and other issues caused by contamination. 

With tower air dryers, moist air passes over deliquescent materials, typically salt tablets, that absorb water vapor from the air. The pressure dew point is suppressed by 20 degrees Fahrenheit. This causes moisture to slowly dissolve desiccants and condensation to work its way to the drain. The desiccants gradually dissolve and gather as a liquid at the bottom of the tower air dryer. The resulting dry compressed air is then removed from the top of the dryer.
